If you forgot Windows 7 administrator password, though you can log on computer with a standard user or guest account, your operations on computer are limited.
As the Windows 7 built-in administrator account is disabled by default, you need to active the administrator account before using it. The following will show you how to reset administrator password in Windows 7 when you forgot or lost the password, and how to enable the hidden Windows 7 administrator account and assign a password for it.
Step 1:
the Password Recovery Disk and burn an ISO image to a disc.
Step 2:
Boot from the Password Recovery Disc
To boot from the password recovery disc:
Insert your bootable recovery disc and shut down your PC.
Power on your PC.
When your BIOS is loading (if you have a brand-name PC, this is usually when you can see the brand’s logo), press the key that loads the boot options menu (this is usually displayed as an option on the screen and is typically the ESC key.)
Arrow down to the CD-ROM Drive option (may also be called Optical drive, DVD-ROM Drive, Optical Media etc) and press Enter.
You will now see a series of prompts. Follow the instructions (the default choices are contained in [brackets]); for your convenience, I took screenshots of the best options:
Press Enter.
Watch the boot files load:(time pass)...
Step 3:
Select the partition where Windows is installed (usually 1.)
Press Enter to use the default Registry directory (unless you changed it, this will be right.)
Step 4:
Type 1 and press Enter.
Select Edit user data and passwords.
Type the username of the account for which you want to change the password. for example "Harsh"
I recommend you clear the password with option 1.
You will receive confirmation that your password is cleared. Now type the same username again and press Enter.
Choose option q to quit.
Save the files by typing y and pressing Enter.
Select n to quit.
Now restart your machine.
Wait for your machine to boot and login without a password.
Be sure to set a new password and remember it this time....
